'that's a good time"

thank you steve and lori for all help...what a great week! we all had a great time and even better food...laynie's quote really sums up the whole visit

mclayne loves the swing ryan and steve hung in the basement, or should i say the cave of wonders(that was a good one layners)! oh...and cole just doing cute baby stuff. laynie hasn't been getting much sleep lately-can you tell!

cole the frog

the other day we were looking at the fish tank and laughing about how our frog reminds us of cole a little bit. but last night while giving cole his first real bath the resemblance was undeniable! they are like twins...and growing at the same rate too!

fish bowl theory...

when we went to the pediatrician for cole's one week check-up and he had gained 1lb 5oz, ryan attributed it to his "fish bowl theory." that is a baby can only get as big as his bowl, ie mother's body. he was convinced that cole would have been bigger had he had more room to grow. i was skeptical at first but after today i think he may be onto something. we went to a lactation class today and cole's naked pre-feeding weight was 9 lbs 12 oz! once again the scale had to be doulbe-checked because they couldn't beleive it. ryan may get his little line-backer after all!
as for the pictures...yesterday mclayne came in from outside a little upset because she was so cold and decided that holding cole would make her feel warmer...it was very cute!

this one's for seth! also note cole's growing chin...

family bonding

a little slide show of everyone just getting along...

and even though a picture is worth a thousand words, sometimes they just have to be said:

grandma stewart: "he's to pretty to be a boy!"
ryan: "oh great, he's going to be a metrosexual like mitt romney"
mclayne: "i have no idid", "i'm going to costco", "i'm going to work"(with briefcase in tow), "no touchy"

happy birthday mclayne

wow...it is hard to believe that just two short years ago we were in the nicu and now mclayne is a healthy and TERRIBLE two...her tantrums are at an all-time high, but today our new pediatrician assured us that he doesn't see the devil in her! she is in the 75% for her height and, at just 25 lbs, is in the 50% for weight. we were able to celebrate her birthday in spite of her badittude...i think it was a good distraction from everything else going on. she was so happy to have grandma and grandpa in town to share her day...also as a side note, cole is doing awesome! the doctor could not believe how much weight he had gained...7.13 at birth, 7.9 after day 1, 7.5 when released, and today...8 pounds 10 ounces! we actually had to weigh him twice because the doctor hadn't seen a baby gain that much such a long time! good thing...he might have a chance against mclayne. ryan and i can't hit mclayne, but i have no problem letting cole whip her into shape - ha!

Cole Russell Bergstrom

countdown to cole is over...he was born on monday afternoon at 3:35. He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz and was 21 inches long. he was and continues to be perfectly healthy and even managed to pee on ryan within his first minute of life...what a kid! he really has his own little look...grandma paula thinks he most closely resembles seth but we'll have to wait and see what grandma lori has to say...ryan and i are stumped. the delivery also went very smoothly for me...no throwing-up, no pain, no dead legs, and almost no puffy-face...thank you cole! mclayne seemed to like cole and said she thought he was cute. she will be happy to have us home tomorrow morning.
