wow...it is hard to believe that just two short years ago we were in the nicu and now mclayne is a healthy and TERRIBLE two...her tantrums are at an all-time high, but today our new pediatrician assured us that he doesn't see the devil in her! she is in the 75% for her height and, at just 25 lbs, is in the 50% for weight. we were able to celebrate her birthday in spite of her badittude...i think it was a good distraction from everything else going on. she was so happy to have grandma and grandpa in town to share her day...also as a side note, cole is doing awesome! the doctor could not believe how much weight he had gained...7.13 at birth, 7.9 after day 1, 7.5 when released, and today...8 pounds 10 ounces! we actually had to weigh him twice because the doctor hadn't seen a baby gain that much such a long time! good thing...he might have a chance against mclayne. ryan and i can't hit mclayne, but i have no problem letting cole whip her into shape - ha!

the first week

so we made it home and yesterday cole came out of the eat, poop, and sleep phase. we were definetly spoiled for a few days, but it is good to see him using his lungs! enjoy the pictures and we'll try to update you soon.

Cole Russell Bergstrom

countdown to cole is over...he was born on monday afternoon at 3:35. He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz and was 21 inches long. he was and continues to be perfectly healthy and even managed to pee on ryan within his first minute of life...what a kid! he really has his own little look...grandma paula thinks he most closely resembles seth but we'll have to wait and see what grandma lori has to say...ryan and i are stumped. the delivery also went very smoothly for me...no throwing-up, no pain, no dead legs, and almost no puffy-face...thank you cole! mclayne seemed to like cole and said she thought he was cute. she will be happy to have us home tomorrow morning.

not so happy new year

this past week mclayne has been sick. it started as a fever on christmas day and ended up as a sinus infection that spread to her eyes...pretty nasty! when i thought she had old-person smell and ryan thought she smelled like his old dog bj, we decided it was time to go to the doctor! the antibiotics started working within hours and hopefully we can get her, and the house, germ-free before the baby comes...below are some of the affects the sickness and maybe ryan(middle picture?) had on mclayne.

pitiful little post

in an attempt to give people what they want, i am posting a slide show with the contents of my camera over the past week or so. upon closer review, i realize i have come up a little, or a lot, short... there are no pictures of my stomach (officially 42 1/2 inches), there are very few pictures of christmas (caught primarily on video), and only fuzzy/dark pictures of the house. i guess i could just use being pregnant as the excuse (the excuse i am currently using for everything else) but i think deep down i may just be a bad blogger!

i have been joking lately that my waist is catching up with ryan's, and to my horror...mine is bigger! i would not be so rude as to divulge ryan's exact measurement (he's such a woman!), but i measured my belly for the first time and was shocked that i had surpassed the 41" mark! we'll have to see how much strech my stomach has left in it!

So after two months of skipping church we finally made it to our new ward (all three hours!)...and it is really a great ward. Mclayne made it through 2 hours of nursery with ryan's help. He is now concerned that mclayne is spiritually falling behind the others and is determined to teach her to pray by herself...wow...good luck!

November Recap

Now that i can finally transfer new pictures, here are a few highlights from last month. Getting a visit from Seth & Susan right before we "moved" was great! Mclayne loved having new playmates, although she had a little bit of a love-hate relationship with Seth! Laying down with Seth seconds after a candy bribe...



















While we were in Utah, Mclayne stole this hat off a bear and decided to pry it on her head...good to see she still has her appreciation for accessories! Also this look is a perfect compliment to the english accent she is now using...i'm blaming stuart from family guy or lumpy from pooh...but who really knows with her!



Lately Mclayne has also adopted a funny mealtime technique...i know, i know...mclayne doing something funny - what a shocker! So, for the past couple of months she's been slurping up any leftover juices/liquids from the bowl...milk, soup broth, cheese sauce, whatever...
