the great outdoors

i thought utah was a pretty active/outdoorsy state until we moved to colorado! i have never seen so many bikers, hikers, fishers, runners everyday of the week! we decided to join in all the action and take a hike up waterton canyon early saturday with the kids(early for me is any time before 10 am). we weren't kidding around... we're talking all-day intense hiking! we, or i should say i, packed protein bars, water, snacks, juice, + sunscreen. while ryan worried about the really important things like a knife and gun...it is mountain lion country after all! right...we let cole sit in one of the packs while it was on the ground just to make sure he was ok with it and then were off. we get there, put cole in the pack and he starts to cry...so much for the test run. then i put the pack on my back and i feel like joining in with tears, but decide to tough it out. ryan straps on mclayne and we began our long journey...of 20 minutes! yes...about five minutes up the trail i took cole out of the pack. partly because he was screaming and partly because my shoulders/neck were on fire! then five minutes later we decide that we should turn around. again, partly because we knew i couldn't hold cole the whole time, and partly because ryan's body was now on fire! i think we were back to the car before mclayne even realized we were on a hike! hopefully next time it lasts a little longer...that's what she said!

Scharee, you are hilarious. I love the Office. I was laughing so hard at the end because it was so unexpected. All the kids came in asking what was so funny. Better luck next hike.

Sorry about Ryan's little "stamina problem." Rest assured that it doesn't run in the family. I'm all man, baby! However, I get like 5 emails a day for Viagara; I'll forward them on and you can pop a couple in Ryan's drink.

That last line was so funny! Perfect usage of the famous Michael Scott line!! Hopefully the next hike will go better. Kuddos for even trying it out though!
