alphabet poop

there have been some silly things going on around here lately...

another one is our alphabet poop project...
ryan likes to make up different ways to ask cole if he has pooped. while in st. george, the bergstrom boys came up with a few to add to the list. it got me to thinking that it might be fun/challenging to come up with a phrase for every letter of the alphabet. here is what we came up with...{we had a lot of time driving in the car to brainstorm!}

Apple/Awk in your A...
Bomb in your Boxers/Bloomers
Crap in your Coolots
Dookie/Doo Doo in your Diaper
Dump in you Drawers
Excrement/Eewie in your E...
Feces/Fudge in your F...
Grunt in your Gitch/Gotch
Hud in your Huggies
Ice cream in your I...
J... in your Jockeys
Kool Whip in your Khakis
Log/Loaf in your Luvs/Long johns
Mess in your M...
Nugget in you kNickers
Oh no in your O...
Poop in your Pants
Q...
Rocky Road in you R...
Soil your Shorts
Turd in your Trousers
Ugly in your Undies
V...
Waste in your Whities
X...
Yucky in your Y...
Z...

We are now down to the hard letters. If you are well versed in the language of poo/underwear/pants and would like to add to and/or edit the list, please feel free. I'm not ready to give up on the dream of a best-selling children's book just yet!

st. george

we're back from nine days in st george...what a trip! the only pictures i took with my camera are of our hike to three "ponds" in snow canyon and playing at the park...

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE...
• seeing Sweetie Grandma and Grandpa’s new house in coral canyon
• texas roadhouse and swimming… and mclayne saying “just one more last time” twenty times
• almost dying in snow canyon…hiking 3.5 miles in river bottom sand packing two kids in the heat is not a good idea!
• Mclayne’s shrimpfest at the Casablanca buffet in mesquite
• Ernesto’s Mexican restaurant…mmmmmm
• going down the hydrotube at the washington rec center with mclayne
• Emerald pools hike at Zions
• The zion’s St. Patrick’s Day parade that we got stuck behind…NOT!
• Finding two new swimsuits…is it really two if you just buy two of the same one in different colors?...either way I’m set for five more years!

OUR {little} BACKYARD

i know i was spoiled with a yard like this in Pennsylvania....

but the yards in Colorado are tiny! So Marianne, even though I go on and on and on about how perfect it is here {i've got to stop doing that!}, it does have its drawbacks. Since the yard only goes back 30 or 40 feet, i couldn't even get a shot looking back toward the house, but there is room for a 10X28 foot deck. You know how they say the camera adds 10 pounds, well it also takes away 10 yards...it feels a little bigger in person. Still, it's a good thing we like our neighbors!

one of the best thing about our yard...the NEIGHBOR'S water fountain/pond that can be seen right behind the picnic table.

side yard. future garden or trampoline site. It really is bigger than it looks. That's what he said. {sorry I couldn't help myself.)

p.s. i'll e-mail the recipes (more like instructions) to you. I'm waiting for a new one to add to the rest... :)

swimming things

On Saturday we decided to go fishing...for fish and crawdads. We thought if we tried catching two different kinds of animals it would increase our chances of catching something. We tried for about an hour or two with no luck. As we were packing things up to leave, mclayne started getting this look like 'what's going on' and said, "we can't go home without any swimming things!" She was convinced that's how it should be...you can't leave until you catch something. She may turn out to be a better fisher than we thought. We went on another ADVENTURE to find a good spot to leave the crawdad trap overnight. Hopefully I have pictures of a new pet crawdad to post soon!

mclayne the artiste

mclayne was busy "painting" all sorts of things last week.

first...she painted her toenails and fingernails while she was supposed to be watching madagascar 2. Luckily she didn't spill a drop, put the lid back on, and put the nail polish away. I think her paint job also supports our belief that mclayne is ambidextrous. Not bad for her first time!

second... presenting mclayne's ryan in play-doh

on saturday while ryan and I were making breakfast, mclayne announces that she "made a picture of daddy." we walked over and found this. even though mclayne had no idea what she was doing {i hope!}, it was hilarious! ryan was flattered.

FOTC update

i've been watching the last of season one and season two on demand {maybe the first time i've ever used our free hbo subscription} and can't believe i was debating whether or not to by tickets. i love it so much i think i'm now a little racist towards australians. luckily, i got tickets at Red Rocks before they sold out. i can't wait!

for valentine's day mclayne got a bake set...she's getting pretty good at making play-doh cookies...mmh mmh

mclayne was finger painting in the basement and came up with this lovely body art. here she is showing off her full-body tattoo, giving a tough pose to go with it, and trying to make cleavage? the last one is great...is a hangnail really your biggest problem right now?!

never thought i'd use mo tab and flight of the conchords in the same sentence

for a while now i have wanted to get tickets to a concert at Red Rocks. So far on the 2009 schedule there is the mormon tabernacle choir {which i will probably be out of town for}...and flight of the conchords. who? i had no idea who they were, so i looked them up and it might actually be a funny show. i still think i'll wait until they post the rest of the season schedule before I buy tickets, but here's just a little taste of fotc {for adult audiences only...and based on the viewers of this blog, probably just for those of you whose last name is BERGSTROM!}....

so, what do you think? should i buy tickets...

a long time ago when ryan lived in japan...

he bought two camera lenses. about a year ago he bought a pretty inexpensive sony that was compatible with them. since then i've just been using the "regular" lens and it does a great job. but recently i started using the other one, i think it's a telephoto, but i could be wrong. either way, it's pretty awesome. so, for those of you that asked, i have a "new" ten.year.old lens!

and while we're on the topic of ryan stories...
on friday we driving in the car and mclayne told me a story about daddy playing football and a "guy big as fwee elephants" hurting him. she continued to tell the story down to every detail...including the stretcher, screws, and needle and fwed. i think daddy's bedtime stories are better than all the others combined!

On Saturday we headed up Waterton Canyon with a lunch, the kids, and our double stroller {which we now call our handcart because we're sure we could pack it with all our belongings and cross the plains with it:)} We had hopes of making it the four miles to the damn at the top, but based on our history with this particular hike that was a little optimistic! We did make it almost two miles up (four miles round trip), see a little wildlife, and have a great lunch right on the bank of the river. We'll have to try it again when the weather warms up and actually make it the whole way!
